This meeting is for Q&A: there are no pre-planned general topics.
- Brian:
- Have an upstream
- Upgraded Spack
- Using upstream generated runtime errors
- What's the difference between a build cache and an upstream?
- Should appear the same for reuse in terms of concretization
- When using build cache, each install copies the package
- Mark: is it possible that other things changed on your system?
- e.g. new compilers
- Brian:
- Pulling the latest core changes requires also pulling all updates to packages
- Ideally we would separate these and users could get the latest spack features without force updating the packages
- Dom: agreed with this
- Could provide resources for testing
- Nightly tests
- Peter: could we just update packages that have made it through CI
- Brian: we should have a CI job that more-closely matches the end systems
- New channel in slack: development-environments
- Discusses some items that came up in this call
