- Mike: use a compilers.yaml file to point Spack to a compiler installed without Spack
- f77 and fc are set to null
- This was about 1 year ago
- Now, when building hdf5 there is a key error
- Q: should I always specify f77/fc everywhere
- Patrick:
- have a top level package called scram which reads xml files to set up the build environment
- need a package doesn't have to download anything (which is currently problematic) and just writes xml file based on install location of another package
