1. Two major PRs merged since the last telcon
   • https://github.com/LLNL/spack/pull/5476: Packages can require patches on dependencies
   • https://github.com/LLNL/spack/pull/5132: Add a test deptype

1. Flag handlers marked as beta
   • Greg created a new set of controls for compiler flags
   • Decided the implementation was incorrect, so we've marked it as beta
     • A fix is generally on the way, but marked beta because we don't have an ETA on these yet
     • Mostly will be changes to the defaults to allow AutotoolsPackages and CMakePackages to pass compiler flags on the configure/cmake line

• Ben thinks Spack should tell users to upstream their patches when they add a patch to depends_on
  • When you add a patch: add a link to where you told upstream about it (if you did)
  • readline is an example - the patch description could be better
