Report Numbers

Ruth edited this page Dec 6, 2021 · 4 revisions

Some technical and other reports are easier to find when using the report number vs. the report name, particularly if a similar report is periodically conducted and you're trying to find a specific version.

Indexing for Search

We should add these to our identifier index since they function as identifiers. The three fields are: 027a:086a:088a and may repeat.

Expected values are some kind of uncontrolled string, since different agencies and fields use different kinds of numbering, including:

  • NSF 80-61
  • STRATLAB-71-98
  • LUMEDW/MEKL-1024/SE
  • MPC-386

Indexing for Display and Displaying

MARC fields label
027a Standard Technical Report Number
086a Government Document Number
088a Report Number

Display in single page fields above Continues.

We don't need to link the values since each report number should be unique, it's just a search thing + displaying so that folks can confirm they're looking at the right thing for reports which have the same title.
