We will index the LCCN (Library of Congress Control Number)for various tasks related to material identification. For example, we can use it to search for book covers via Google Books API and in HathiTrust.

The LCCN can be found in 010a. We will currently ignore 010b (NUCMC number) and 010z (canceled OCLC or NUCMC number).

A record may only have one 010 and in that only one subfield a. (subfields b & z may repeat, but we're not indexing them).

LCCNs may contain hyphens, underscores, and spaces. It would be worth seeing whether all our spaces have been cleaned up at all (with underscores or hyphens, for example) and determine how we'll index based on that.
