Youth Risk Assessment

The Youth Risk assessment is a set of questions that aims to capture information about the young person during the person transfer request. This includes risk, offence, health and general care information. The purpose of the youth risk assessment is to share important information with the parties involved in moving and receiving the person to ensure the safety of the person, other prisoners and everyone else involved in moving and caring for them.

A Youth Risk Assessment is required for a person moving from locations classified as a Secure Training Centre (STC) or a Secure Children's Home (SCH). If a location is classified as a Young Offender Institution (YOI) the following criteria will determine if they require a Youth Risk Assessment:

  1. The person is under 18
  2. If the person is between 18 and 19, they will be asked if they require a Youth Risk Assessment, if they answer yes, they will be required to fill in the assessment. This value will be available on a person's profile, under the attribute name requires_youth_risk_assessment
  3. If the person is over 18/19 they will not be required to fill in a Youth Risk Assessment

Completing a Person Escort Record is still required even if a Youth Risk Assessment has been completed for a person.
