I've been a software developer for over 2 decades and have written code used in some of the world's largest websites. I recognize that often small pieces are critical dependencies and need to be maintained. I value when people acknowledge the work that I put into these projects and, when it comes to monetary appreciation, I often pay it forward to other projects that I use or depend on.

We, both coders and consumers, have the privilege of acknowledging our role and contributing to a positive outcome, and often financial contribution through sponsorship is the easiest and most consistent way to play our part.

Do even 20 people/companies appreciate all the work that goes into helping maintain so many security-focused projects?
