draggable-rails

draggable-rails gem is the integration of https://shopify.github.io/draggable/ javascript library for your Rails 4 and Rails 5 application.

Installation

Add this line to your application's Gemfile:

gem 'draggable-rails'

And then execute:

$ bundle

Or install it yourself as:

$ gem install draggable-rails

Now you need to edit your app/assets/javascripts/application.js file and add the following line:

//= require draggable

Example code:

Working example code for draggable li element you can see the event changes in the browser console.

Note: I am using jQuery.

You can add a script.js file app/assets/javascripts/script.js and add the following line:

$(document).on("turbolinks:load", function() {	  

  new Draggable.Draggable(document.querySelectorAll('ul'), {
    draggable: 'li'
  })
  .on('drag:start', () => console.log('drag:start'))
  .on('drag:move',  () => console.log('drag:move'))
  .on('drag:stop',  () => console.log('drag:stop'));
});

index.html.erb file app/views/pages/index.html.erb and add the following line:

<ul>
  <li>One</li>
  <li>Two</li>
  <li>Three</li>
</ul>

Development

After checking out the repo, run bin/setup to install dependencies. Then, run rake false to run the tests. You can also run bin/console for an interactive prompt that will allow you to experiment.

To install this gem onto your local machine, run bundle exec rake install. To release a new version, update the version number in version.rb, and then run bundle exec rake release, which will create a git tag for the version, push git commits and tags, and push the .gem file to rubygems.org.
