Starling Capture establishes a chain of custody from cameras to digital platforms. It creates a "cryptographic" capture mode on the phone to authenticate image and video. It is the first project to support both OpenSSL and hardware-based signature using Zion and Arm Trust Zone. The key features of Starling Capture include:

  • Seal: Using new secure enclave technology all footage is signed with a cryptographic key that creates a tamper proof seal on the data.
  • Metadata: The phone’s sensors capture 30+ metadata points to prove the footage was taken at a specific time, date, and location.
  • Privacy: Users retain controls to protect their anonymity and limit traces back to their specific device.
