Been kicking around various ideas but ultimately it looks like this is a bit buggy version-to-version in the Python stdlib
ssl/urllib3/ pyOpenSSL ecosystem. So I have decided to add an option to skip server cert checking for those experiencing cert validation headaches.see also: urllib3/urllib3#1682
