You'll need to export the following environment variables:

  • Google OAuth config (you'll need to configure an OAuth application):

    • GOOGLE_CLIENT_ID
    • GOOGLE_CLIENT_SECRET
    • GOOGLE_REDIRECT_URI
  • GitHub OAuth config (to allow for GitHub login):

    • GITHUB_CLIENT_ID
    • GITHUB_CLIENT_SECRET
    • GITHUB_REDIRECT_URI
  • Application keys (should be base64 encoded secrets):

    • CLOAK_KEY
    • APP_SALT
    • SECRET_KEY_BASE
  • integration test data (to run the live Pivotal Tracker integration tests):

    • TRACKER_API_TOKEN

Using environment variables is the recommended configuration path for Twelve-Factor Apps. This is also the recommended approach for applications that will be deployed to Heroku.
