Open English WordNet 2023

This is the 2023 version of the Open English WordNet.

Major changes include:

• New modelling for feminine variations
• British and American (and other) spelling variations marked
• Fixed representation of 'role' words
• Included morphosemantic relations
• Many further minor improvements

• Linking to Wikidata for over 6,000 entries
• Inclusion of pronunciation information for nearly 35,000 entries
• Homographs (such as 'bass') are now distinct
• Incorporation of sentence template information
• Adoption of Global WordNet Association v1.1 format
• Reorganization of syntactic behaviors to reduce file sizes
• Over 150 community contributions

English WordNet 3.1

This is the version of English WordNet created from the Princeton WordNet 3.1 under the WordNet License. It contains no non-technical differences to the Princeton WordNet 3.1 release and a version of WordNet 3.1 can be created from this using the GWN Scala API. In particular, with the following command

./gwn -i wn31.xml -o wn31/ -t WNDB
