Is your feature request related to a problem or challenge? Please describe what you are trying to do.

There is currently an unmerged proposal for size statistics in parquet format (
apache/parquet-format#197).

Describe the solution you'd like

Id like to see parquet crate eventually support writing these statistics.

Describe alternatives you've considered

Additional context

  • Opening to track
  • I may be able to work on this if no one else plans to
  • there are some example PoC implementations for Java/cpp in the linked issue

If no one objects, I wouldn't mind taking a stab at this one. apache/parquet-format#197 has merged, and I have a keen interest in using these new statistics.
