Contributing

All members of the ScatterHQ organisation on GitHub are welcome to propose changes to the website. If you are available for hire or for consultation and wish to list your services on https://www.scatterhq.com please submit a pull request.

To modify the website, please:

• Create a fork and branch, and
• add your proposed content.
• Test your changes by running

bundle install
bundle exec jekyll serve

and then browsing http://localhost:4000/

• Open a pull request, and
• assign a reviewer in GitHub.

Infrastructure

The https://www.scatterhq.com domain and website are hosted on the following (mostly free) infrastructure.

DNS

• The scatterhq.com DNS domain is registered with Google Domains (10 GBP / year).
• The scatterhq.com DNS records are managed with CloudFlare.

Web

• The canonical website address is https://www.scatterhq.com.
• The www.scatterhq.com and scatterhq.com domain names are served by CloudFlare which provides: proxy, cache, SSL termination and HTTP redirects.
• The website content is served from GitHub pages.
• The website content is generated by Jekyll.

Email

• Email is handled by Google G-Suite.
• There is a scatterhq.com organisation with a single super admin user: admin@scatterhq.com.
• That account also receives email for team@scatterhq.com and flocker-team@scatterhq.com through aliases.
• There are filters on that account which forward messages to the email addresses of each team member.
