The h5 files could cause some problems:
To run pd.read_hdf , the tables package needed to be installed. This package had dependencies that could be hard to install without using conda.
An older version of pandas needed to be installed to load these files (0.25.3 worked for me).
I changed these data files for pickled versions of the dataframes, and pd.read_hdf to pd.read_pickle.
