This is a generally nice-to-have update, and will fix docs issues that we were hitting from #3516.
And then since I was looking at our CI setup there are some other cleanups and latency fixes available... the last major thing would be to use
pytest-covfor our coverage job, sincepytest-xdistwould roughly halve the runtime there.
