superset_nginx

Reverse proxy for deploying Apache Superset
This repo is documented apache Superset deployment with Nginx and Gunicorn on AWS, pipeline built structure - load data from mongodb - python for data cleansing and aggregation - transfer aggregated data to DWH, MySQL on cloud - connect DB with Apache Superset

use airflow for data pipeline orchestration, for we need not only in-house dashboard but the one that any user can view from public domain, such as Flask app, the easiest way is to use reverse proxy, to mask upstream connections, put in modules conf(suprset.conf).

listening on cloud 18.162.249.250 (localhost) to port 8088.

Init virtual env

$pyenv activate superset

check PYTHONPATH, can use sys module to check all available paths

$ /home/ubuntu/.local/lib/python3.5/site-packages

Create a new config file or use default one from Superset

$ vim /home/ubuntu/.local/lib/python3.5/site-packages/superset_config.py

add the following lines in that folder

from superset.security import SupersetSecurityManager

Install Redis

Upgrade apt-get
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get upgrade
Install the redis server
$ sudo apt-get install redis-server

Change the redis config file

$ vim /etc/redis/redis.conf
Add the following lines to redis.conf
maxmemory 128mb
maxmemory-policy allkeys-lru

Restart and enable redis on reboot

$ sudo systemctl restart redis-server.service
$ sudo systemctl enable redis-server.service
ensure redis shows up in htop
$ htop

Monitoring live

$ redis-cli monitor

Flush Cache

$ redis-cli
flushall

Set up Gunicorn

$ pip install gunicorn
$ gunicorn superset:app -b localhost:8000 &

Set up Nginx

$ sudo apt-get install nginx
here have two file_dirs need to config to get nginx run
$ sudo vim /etc/nginx/nginx.conf
add following lines

config files on site-available folder

$sudo vim /etc/nginx/sites-available/suprset.conf

hardlink this superset.conf into the sites-enabled folder

$ sudo ln -s /etc/nginx/sites-available/superset.conf /etc/nginx/sites-enabled

Test for syntax

$ sudo nginx -t
$ sudo nginx -s reload
should see these below
nginx: the configuration file /etc/nginx/nginx.conf syntax is ok
nginx: configuration file /etc/nginx/nginx.conf test is successful

check nginx status

$ sudo systemctl status nginx
you will see process similar to below
