I have the same question. Because after we started using this gem, we intermittently encounter this error:

ERROR -- : exception while processing events: PG::UnableToSend: another command is already in progress

I'm not sure if it's just coincidence that we started encountering that error after we started using this gem.

I'll try to provide more details later after I investigate what exactly is causing the error we're encountering.
