Can you run without going through a URL?

Beginners question. Can one set up a main program using yew so that executing it opens a window,
rather than providing a URL? Is there an example of such?

Native desktop GUI, if I understand the definition of this term (obviously(!!) I'm not an expert).
All we want is that the user can open a terminal window on a Mac, type the Rust executable name,
and have another window (the GUI) pop up, and change as the executable runs and the user does
things in the window.

We have a React-based version of this now, but would infinitely prefer to code in Rust.

You might want a Rust native GUI framework (see https://areweguiyet.org), otherwise you can try something like Electron or Tauri (tauri.studio) to make something that looks like a "native" desktop application.
