localhost:1234/foo/index.html.html provokes a 404

Hello!
It's reproducable as explain in this ticket:
TypeStrong/typedoc#2497 (comment)

It looks like there is a link issue when a file is named index.html.html.
Exact same distributable folder is hosted on GH pages, and it works without issues:
https://juliancataldo.github.io/og-images-generator/functions/index.html.html

Looks like a very rare edge case.
