Example request: Using with-apollo with apollo-cache-persist

We are working on a new NextJS based app based on the with-apollo example.
We'd like to persist client state, and according to this article this should be a simple thing to do. Unfortunately this seems to be more complicated in NextJS, as the intial state is set on the server.

See this issue for the problems I've been facing when trying to do this.

I would love an example on how this could be achieved in NextJS.
