Description
Evaluate the hint text in the input mask variants to see if we can provide more helpful examples
As an example, the hint for the social security number mask reads "For example, 123 45 6789". It could add clarity to specify in the hint that the user is expected to add nine numeric digits here.
Additionally, a screen reader user would have to interpret what is required of them after hearing only a list of numbers. In the telephone example, the hint would be read aloud as "For example, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 0"). This would require some thinking to figure out if they are expected to add a 7-digit number a 10-digit number or if they need to include a country code.
It feels like there is an opportunity to set a standard for quality hint text in these scenarios.
