process_map keep progress bar at top

I am using from tqdm.contrib.concurrent import process_map

When I use it, and include the 'position' and 'leave' args, they are ignored and the progress bar appears on a newline each time tqdm.write is called and the progress bar is next updated:
process_map(processSim, sims, max_workers=threads, position=0, leave=True)

What do I need to do to get the bar to stay fixed at the top, when I am also writing periodically to the console?
