I would like to request a new feature:
Giving a name / tags to a tomato before it is started and not after it is done.

The main reason for this is that I have multiple tasks on my todo list and sometimes after a moment of working on one task I get distracted and my focus goes to a second task.

If I could write down the task I should focus on- it would be easier to manage distractions.

This may be similar to #129

@elfin-plewicki thanks for your feedback.

How would you imagine this feature?

Would it be easier for you to setup your whole todo list in the app and then have a small button, close to each item, to start a new pomodoro to work on it?

Hi @potomak
What you've proposed would be perfect, but I think that even a simpler version would be nice:

At the moment a user can insert the tags after tomato is done.

I would change it so that it is possible to insert the tags before the tomato. They would be visible on the screen (and maybe even changed after the tomato, but that's something extra) during counting the time. After the tomato is done it would be saved with the tags given before starting the tomato. If tomato is not finished- it simply does not get saved.

I could imagine it as a simple switch in the profile settings allowing to insert the tags before the tomato.

Actually there could also be two switches:

  • one that enables adding tags before the tomato
  • second one to add tags after the tomato

With this user would also get an extra possibility just to simply measure time in the tomato app without the need to insert tags.

Do you thinks it's doable?

Is this a huge effort?

Interesting... I think this wouldn't be that hard. I think that it would be enough to change the front-end script to keep track of the tags and to pre-populate the tags input field with that value if it exists.

Do you have any experience on front-end development?
Would you like to take a stab at it?

I wouldn't like to add switches. I think it would be easier to add another tags input field close to the "Start" button, to keep track of a set of tags from the beginning of the pomodoro.

I have no experience with front-end development, but I would gladly give it a try.

If you could recommend some tutorial on setting up the environment so that I can change the code and then test it- it would be great.

What about the input box which we have now, but available during tomato? Maybe with check box saying "Show current tomato's tags"?
Also the tomato planning is a nice idea. A person composes tomatoes for a day and then goes one by one clicking "Work" button in front of each and a tomato for tags specified for the tomato started. I would make this feature a paid feature. I would pay for it. In addition to just using tomatoes service.

I have a front-end developer (my wife)!!! May "I" work on the front-end of this feature?

@andrew-chiz-muzychuk of course, assign this issue to yourself and start working on it.

Let me know if you need support.
