When a user swipes down to close the dialogue, there's a simple animation that translates the component along the vertical axis. For a seamless experience, these should also animate when the user opens (or closes) the dialogue by pressing the icon in the upper right corner.

The existing implementation of the React Native Animated library can easily be reused for this (FYI in case someone else ends up doing this).
