Am I misunderstanding how preloadData works?

I have a home page, a stats page, and a rankings page. The home page has links to the stats and rankings page, and the stats and rankings pages have links to each other and back to the home page. I load all the data for each page inside of +page.server.ts for each.

Each page calls preloadData on the other two. When I navigate between stats and rankings, the navigation is instant. However, when I navigate from the home page to the stats or rankings pages, it takes multiple seconds to navigate.

At first, I thought maybe preloadData was not being executed in time, but after I did a preloadData("/the/stats/route").then((e) => console.log(e)) I saw that the data was indeed being loaded, so I don't understand why it should have any delay in loading the page. My understanding was that the page should be completely cached, so there should be nothing variable about the load times.

How can I debug this further? I know that I have not provided a ton of information, but I am more looking for an explanation of how preloadData works in general so that I can test more stuff out myself. Thanks!

Oh, I see, my issue is that preloadData only caches one route at a time, and I was using it to cache multiple routes. I'll open a feature request.
