Contributing to open source at the outset of my career built my confidence and diminished my imposter syndrome. As my experience grew I led successful projects of my own like excon, fog and http-api-design-guide. Through speaking, writing, organizing conferences and meetups, and mentoring I also empowered others to have more and better experiences.
