Hi! I'm Mike, and I maintain a bunch of software in the Ruby ecosystem.

I'm very interested in making hard and painful things easier to do. Through most of my career I've worked on developer tooling like Nokogiri and Mechanize and security tooling like Loofah and rails-html-sanitizer.

Your sponsorship is worth far more than money to me. It tells me that the software I've written has impacted you in your day-to-day life. It acknowledges the humanity of the people who build and maintain the software you use every day. It says "thank you" to a human who rarely gets thanked.

Any money that I receive as part of your sponsorship will go first towards defraying the costs of the projects on which I work (which are low thanks the generosity of @GitHub); but everything else will get channeled back to the community.

In the past, I've sent Christmas gifts to co-contributors to thank them for their work. I'm currently supporting WNB.rb, the libxml2 project, Ruby Central, and the maintainers of a few other projects that I use. In the future, I hope to save enough money to send underrepresented developers to their first Ruby conference and provide mentoring and coaching for them.

@flavorjones

The impact of your sponsorship is more than just money -- it's an acknowledgement of the humans behind the software you use. It's extremely motivating to know that the software I help build is useful to real people.
