This crate has:

  • no direct dependencies
  • a quite stable API
  • a slow rate of changes
  • a lot of reverse dependencies

As such, it is a good target for downstream distributions to start tackling and designing strategies for effective crates integration into existing OS.

I would be very happy if you could start considering if the API is stable enough to quickly proceed toward a stable 1.0, and otherwise to write down what is missing to reach it, so that we can come up with a roadmap/patches for it.

Out of curiosity, is there a reason to accelerate the push to 1.0? A slow rate of change does not necessarily mean that it's ready to be stabilized unfortunately!
