Currently, this project claims to support git 1.6.0.0 and beyond. This version of git was released in 2008-08-17.

However, this claim is not tested since it isn't part of the CI build. I have not been able to get very old versions of git to build or install (but that is probably my limitation).

So we have to determine:

  1. What version of git SHOULD we claim to support?
  2. Going forward, what is the policy for how the supported version of git changes?
  3. If we say we support a version of git, what responsibility that that imply? e.g. what versions of git should be used in the CI build?
