looking at the repo, there are several js linting issues. is there a reason for not fixing them? would be happy to add jshint and work on resolving them unless there’s a reason not to.

Sounds great!

How about following the same linting as the "main" repo? It uses eslint and has a .eslintc file you can copy :)
