listenerApi.getState() delivers pre action state on persist/REHYDRATE action

I created a listener like this

export const addAfterPageLoadListener = (startListening: AppStartListening) => {
    startListening({
        type: REHYDRATE,
        effect: (_action, listenerApi) => {
            console.log(listenerApi.getState())
}

whereas REHYDRATE is the persist/REHYDRATE action from redux persist. According to the devtools this rehydrates the state.
But the listenerApi.getState() delivers the non rehydrated state including
_persist: {version: -1, rehydrated: false}

Any ideas why this happens and how I can access the rehydrated state in the listener?

I tried to identify the rehydration on the state change by:

predicate: (_action, currentState, previousState) => {
            console.log('====')
            console.log(currentState?._persist?.rehydrated)
            console.log(previousState?._persist?.rehydrated)
            return currentState?._persist?.rehydrated && !previousState?._persist?.rehydrated
        },

which is never triggered, as the current and previous flips from false, false to true, true.

The reason was that in a middleware on the REHYDRATE action some async stuff was excecuted before the next(). Moved it to after next() it now works.
