rbenv install 3.3.1 - BUILD FAILED macOS 14.4.1 on arm64 (M1) using ruby-build 20240517

Hi everybody! Unfortunately no 3.3.x version compiles for me successfully so far on my M1 from 2020.

What I already tried

• Re-installing Xcode / CommandLineTools
• Downgrading Xcode
• Re-installing rbenv, ruby-build

Fortunately yes! The comment of @hsbt led me to remove some Python infra which did the trick (see #2387 (reply in thread))

Can you disable nm command provided by pyenv temporally? Ruby only support the official toolchains by Xcode in macOS platform.

I removed pyenv and pyenv-virtualenv from my system using brew and cutted out my local .penv folder to get it out of the culprit. After that rbenv install 3.3.1 succeeded 🙏

I never knew what exactly causes the issue, but we've had several reports over the years that an Anaconda/Miniconda environment sets up some build tools that inadvertently cause incompatibilities with building Ruby. #1361 (comment)
