Following on from #158, adding Windows support was was attempted in #419 but there was more work required to get it running.

I did a bit of work on this, so a good place to start might be-

git revert c67da48510df552eb0a0084785042e5ff6eda7d6

If anyone wants to try getting this going, PRs welcome!
