We need a landing page for https://pugjs.org, instead of dropping users directly to the API intro. Specifically, I envision the page to have

  • Jumbotron-level logo & tagline
  • a simple demo
  • introduction to a few core features of Pug, like tags, attributes, mixins

Pug logo source at https://github.com/pugjs/pug-logo if anyone wants to have a go at this.

A colleague and I spent about 5mn trying to understand what Pug actually was when someone linked us the link to your website :-/

While you wait for this main page, you might just want to drop a line at the start of the Getting Started page reminding people what this is all about. The GH description of the main repo would do the trick.

As it's been a year so far with no apparent progress, could I take a shot at a home page? It'd be nice if I could do it for hacktoberfest :)

I saw a CodePen using Pug, I was intrigued, I searched Pug, and Google knowing me well, shown me https://pugjs.org/ as second link (the first one being about dogs, of course).
I go there, and I see https://pugjs.org/api/getting-started.html which explains how to install and use Pug, but totally fails to explain what is Pug. Which is the very base of the landing page of a site...
Even the headline of the GitHub page ("robust, elegant, feature rich template engine for Node.js") is more informative, not to mention the readme itself.
I am not here to complain, as I was able to find the information by myself, but to make a heads up that it will confuse and drive away a number of people that would be otherwise interested in your software.
