Strange non UTF-8 output on Debian Linux / Linux Mint 2.10

I've tried default terminal, Tilix and Terminix all with same problem. I also tried answers suggested here, so far nothing worked.

How can I fix this?

I confirm I have the same issue on PopOS 20.10

I can confirm as well, on Ubuntu 20.10, on the default terminal:

> pry --version
Pry version 0.14.1 on Ruby 3.0.1 

On my machine the issue only occurs on terminals of size less than 155x43. If either the height < 43 or width < 155, then the issue appears. (So the error is NOT present in a full-screen terminal.)

Also, the issue is NOT present with pry 0.14.0

@dreig thank you! I will revert to previous version until this is fixed! I was unable to get it to work any any linux terminals regardless of screen size.

I seem to have a similar issue and I trace it to be from this commit.
