Active class (router-link-active) missing in nested URLs

I have the following router links:

/mail
/mail/inbox

When I'm on the /mail/inbox page, I want the router link for /mail to appear as active. How can I achieve this using unplugin-vue-router?"

I'm coming from: https://stackoverflow.com/a/67388093/8335089, where a workaround using RouterView seems to achieve what I want but I can't find any docs on how to implement the same using unplugin-vue-router since routes are auto-generated.
