"service" syntax support: "jdbc:postgresql://?service=my-service"

Is there a good reason why "service" syntax is not supported by jdbc driver?

The expectation would be to get connection using the following syntax:

String url = "jdbc:postgresql://?service=my-service";
Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection(url);

like it works with psql out-of-the-box as following:

$ psql "postgresql://?service=my-service"
psql (13.4)
Type "help" for help.

postgres@//localhost:15438/postgres[]# 

without setting any environment variables:

$ env | grep PG
<zero results>

the "my-service" resolving is supported by the following files/content:

$ cat ${HOME}/.pg_service.conf 
[my-service]
host=localhost
port=15438
user=postgres
dbname=postgres

$ cat ${HOME}/.pgpass         
localhost:15438:*:postgres:postgres

[sehrope]

Nope. There's been attempts at adding that feature in the past but they trailed off without being completed.
