No network causes Software to fail with errors, but no hint is provided

As this is a wifi-only system, when network is not configured, it's just a simple message: Network not configured.
But then Software shows 3 errors and the details say "Could not read repository". Nothing more.

It would be great if more details were provided (maybe on request only). At least something that really tell me what's wrong. Maybe something a little bit more clever that tells me that network is not set up, that DNS resolution does not work, that server responded with an error 500, that there was a a certificate issue, that the repository is of a wrong format? There can be many reasons for the failure, but in many cases it's impossible to be debugged and thus fixed.
