docker push to private registry fails with error KeyError: '\x00'

This problem can be reproduced with docker master and registry:0.6.4 when pushing an image.

Started to see this issue too after upgrading to 0.8.0.

@crosbymichael Not as far as I can tell. I haven't seen this error since I've reported it.

I'll close the issue and re-open it if I run into it again.
