Strange behavior when used as a global proxy on ios

Mitmproxy works fine on my phone when connected to local network, but when I disconnect and use my cellular data with it, it only seems to work for a few seconds.
After freshly connecting or turning airplane mode on and off, requests go through for a few seconds, and I can see them fine in mitmproxy. Interestingly enough, if I stay on the same website, I can keep using it through mitmproxy until I close the tab. However, if I try to go to a completely different website, the website never loads and nothing is printed to mitmproxy or the event log. Not even mitm.it will load after the first few seconds are over.

I have installed and trusted the proper certs for ssl, verified that the port forwarding works, and disabled block-global.

Does anyone know what this could be or how I could fix it?

Solved this issue by using a vpn to connect to the proxy as done in data-life.
