Most modern web browsers now allow for selecting/dragging multiple tabs at once by using ctrl + click or shift + click, much in the same way file explorers have for many years. I have come to really appreciate this feature, and use it to re-organize my tabs all the time. Thus, it makes me all the more sad when I tab to VSCode and I can no longer select multiple tabs. If you have a bunch of tabs open, it would be so nice to be able to reorganize them by do things like:

  • ctrl + select 2 or 3 and drag them to a new pane.
  • shift select 5 tabs in the middle and drag them to a different pane.

All of those little conveniences of ctrl and shift selection that we all know and love.

🔥 🔥 Tell me you can look at this and not want it 🔥 🔥

Note: Similar issues have been raised in the past: #50713 (comment) and #89958 (comment) . Both got some support, so I'm hoping we can have more success this time.
