Depending on when you started using the Interactive Window, this may be considered a regression.
V1 of the interactive window
When multiple cells were run, they would appear in the IW and wait their turn to run.
V2.1 of the interactive window (using the native APIs)
When multiple cells were run, they don't appear in the IW until they are running.
V2.2 of the interactive window
Fixed the regression from V1 such that cells are now queued again. But this then regressed the behavior from V2.1.
In my use, I've found both behaviors can be useful, depending on the situation. For example, when I run several cells simultaneously and one of them happens to contain an error, suddenly my IW is filled with cells that were never run and are basically just in the way. I can delete them, but depending on how many that can be cumbersome.
Couple suggestions:
Add a setting the user can toggle to change whether cells are queued or not.
Provide a command/button to delete cells that were not executed even though they were queued.
