duplicate users - how to handle?

i am now migrating users from slack to synapse using this wonderful package, and i think i might be doing something wrong

i created the bridge and it works and also i have SSO with my company server so the users are able to login to the homeserver and then login to slack via slackbot (bridge)

this all works fine however i now ended up with duplicate users, one @alexis:home_server.com another @slack_U21321312

this does not seem right?
