Keawade Dotfiles

Setting up on a new system

Add alias to shell config

alias config='/usr/bin/git --git-dir=$HOME/.keawade-config/ --work-tree=$HOME'

Restart shell and run the following script to clear the conflicting temp config, clone, and checkout latest.

echo ".keawade-config" >> .gitignore
rm ~/.config/fish/config.fish
git clone --bare git@github.com:keawade/dotfiles.git $HOME/.keawade-config
config checkout
config config status.showUntrackedFiles no

Handle conflicts

In event of a conflict, delete or backup conflicting files and try again

mkdir -p .config-backup && \
config checkout 2>&1 | egrep "\s+\." | awk {'print $1'} | \
xargs -I{} mv {} .config-backup/{}
config config status.showUntrackedFiles no

Install Neovim plugins

Install Packer package manager for Neovim.

git clone --depth 1 https://github.com/wbthomason/packer.nvim ~/.local/share/nvim/site/pack/packer/start/packer.nvim

Open ~/.config/nvim/lua/keawade/packer.lua, source the file with :so, and run :PackerSync. Exit and reopen Neovim for full changes to take effect.

Install tmux plugins

Install TPM package manager for tmux.

git clone https://github.com/tmux-plugins/tpm ~/.tmux/plugins/tpm
tmux source ~/.config/tmux/tmux.conf

Press prefix + I to install plugins

Install fisher plugins

Install fisher package manager for fish.
