Markdown is preferable to write in. Org-mode is preferable for task management due to its excellent TODOs block format (and friends like org-agenda). Having markdown mode be able to parse TODOs inline would provide minor integration superpowers.
Quite simply: Allow markdown mode to grok, understand, and work with TODOs as an option (drawers, notes, state change and dates etc.).
As an example, logseq uses org-mode TODOs in its markdown implementation (though not quite as good) but it makes for a much stronger experience.
Expected Behavior
I can use an org-mode TODO block in markdown and take advantage of the org-mode TODO and agenda ecosystem.
Actual Behavior
Sadly, right now you just get checkboxes.
