All of the answers I have seen say that you have to write your own helper function to do something as basic as this? You might as well make a bicycle without, you know ... handlebars. JFC

The reason for making such a limited templating language is to force developers to not include too much logic inside templates. The data should be prepared in a way so rendering templates is as straightforward as possible.

In my opinion, writing a custom helper is the wrong approach.

In your example, you could use your full-fledged programming-language of choice in order to provide data like this:
