Oops! We’re moving feature requests back to github issues
If you’ve been active in the Grafana community for a while, you might remember that we moved github issues to discussions. Our intention was to be able to communicate and act on feature requests in a transparent and consistent way. We realize that in practice that’s not what happened.
We want to try something new because we care a lot about taking action on the great ideas and challenges that the community shares with us. We’ve learned some lessons, so going forward this is how we’ll be handling feature requests:
Feature requests can be opened using the feature request issue template in github (see here)
We have a dedicated team of Grafanistas that will be watching for new feature requests and will tag them with the feature request label
When a feature request has a lot of activity in the form of unique reactions or comments, we will follow up in the issue to gather any additional information we need and move it to the squad that works on that part of Grafana
What about existing feature requests?
We’ll be curating the existing feature requests that are already in github discussions. The requests that already have enough upvotes will be moved back into github issues and you can follow them there.
Please let us know what you think about the new process and how it’s working. We've set up a thread here in the Grafana community forum to discuss your feedback. It’s our hope that you’ll get more visibility into the state of a feature request with this new process.
