Standalone not erroring when required files are missing

This line doesn't seem to actually catch errors when fthe expected files do not exist.

Attempting to run a core plugin standalone for debugging should error as the plugin.json is not located where expected. However, the error on this line never gets thrown and a misleading missing executable from plugin.json is returned instead.
