Exceptions silenced with contextlib.suppress are still being logged.

To my suprise the following snippet is still being logged. Is this as intended?

from contextlib import suppress

with suppress(AttributeError):
    raise AttributeError('do not log me')

To silence the error I found an implementation of the before_send event:

def sentry_before_send(event, hint):
    if "exc_info" in hint:
        exc_type, exc_value, tb = hint["exc_info"]

        if not isinstance(exc_value, AttributeError):
            return event

        # Ignore handled AttributeError exceptions in DotDict class
        exceptions = event.get("exception", {}).get("values", [])
        if exceptions:
            exc = exceptions[-1]
            mechanism = exc.get("mechanism")

            # returning None silences the exception
            if mechanism and mechanism.get("handled"):
                return None
    return event
